The Best Laid Plans

Happy Monday, Stylenation!  I had planned to be writing from my parents' house in Ohio this week, but instead I'm sitting at home sick, looking out at some lovely yet annoying snow.  I was planning to visit my family this week for the holidays (since my parents will be out of town later in the month), but had to postpone my trip due to all of the snow here in the Midwest.  I'm pretty bummed because I was looking forward to seeing family and friends that I haven't seen since my trip home this summer.  Although it snowed pretty much all day yesterday here in Chicago, we only have a few inches on the ground.  Definitely not a lot compared to what our Minnesota-area readers got, or even other parts of the Midwest.  I considered leaving this morning, but Northwest Indiana - the only way to get to Ohio from here - is still in a state of emergency because of all of the snow they've been getting.  So I'll try again this weekend.

This is such a lackluster start to the No Repeats Challenge, but I promise things will pick up from here.  They'd pretty much have to. I have a lot of holiday things planned for the next couple of weeks, so that will help.  What I'm wearing today is definitely my typical work-from-home outfit for the winter.  The one thing I do like is the inclusion of my beloved, 10 year old Dr. Martens boots.  You can't tell what a nice shade of dark red they are in this picture, although there is a poorly-lit close-up at the bottom of this post.

How is your week shaping up?  Academics, is the end of the semester in sight?

Sweater & Jeans: Gap
Boots: Dr. Martens via Chester Boot Shop (Detroit, MI)

  1. Sorry the snow is thwarting you! At least you look stylish, right?

I'm staying in Charlotte over Christmas because making a plan to fly back to WI or IL at Christmastime is fraught. It could so easily become "Christmas in the Detroit airport" and who wants that? Fortunately I have some swell friends who have invited me to their family Christmases, so I'll have somewhere to wear clothes to.

  2. Yeay for the return of the Doc Martens. I hope to see you remix them with some tights/leggings and a dress for a work at home day. You will be so B.A.
Sorry about the snow, but I am also jealous. Sympathetic envy? I am glad you guys are enjoying the weather (guys being you and Jude. Hopefully Fella too).

  3. Are those cherry-red Docs? I had an 8-hole pair and I loved them dearly. I also really like your necklace.

Having had holiday travel plans mired in snow on more than one occasion, I'm very sympathetic.

  4. Sorry to hear your plans got snowed out. What a disappointment! (you would think we'd know what to do with snow by now!)

Hope you are feeling better soon!

  5. Anne--be safe when you finally can make the trip. I have completed grading for the four online classes and have three finals left to give, Tuesday-Thursday.

  6. Cynthia: I usually stay here over Christmas too - it's such a hassle to travel at the holidays! That's why I wanted a mid-December trip home. Joining other families is how I spend Christmas too :)

Rad: I definitely plan to rock such an ensemble sometime soon! It'd be a perfect non-office day outfit. I'd love to finally be BA! Fella was less than enthused to have to go to work in the cold today, so I think we enjoyed it more.

    K.Bean: YES! They're 8-hole, cherry red! We must've been boot twins :)

Lyddie: Good point, why hasn't anyone figured out how to keep snow from messing up travel?

Terri: Thanks! The forecast looks a lot better this weekend, so I should have an easy drive.
