Man pants

As Anne travels to Ohio today, I will be traveling to a local neighborhood coffee shop (after the laundry's done) to hopefully be very productive in my manuscript editing/grading/being smart tasks.  As part of the no repeats challenge, I told Blokey that I might be sneaking over to his side of the closet.  I am inspired today by Rebecca, who often wears her husband's trousers with aplomb.  While these straight leg, lighter wash jeans aren't the most figure flattering pair of pants I could wear, they are super comfortable for my full day of sitting (with some stretching!) I have a head of me.  (Thanks to Sal for your wise words on why figure flattering isn't the end all be all).  The plaid shirt is a little boy's shirt, so today's outfit has loads of masculine influences.

Hope everyone has an awesome Friday.  Don't forget to enter the Pineapple Mint Giveaway.  You have until Sunday night.

Sweater: Jcrew (gift from ex bf)
Shirt: vintage boy's via eBay
Pants: from Blokey's side of the closet, H&M (also very old)
Shoes: Ecco
Hat: Brooklyn Industries

  1. Love the androgynous look, Rad! And thanks for the shout-out.

  2. I like this outfit a lot. The bagginess of the jeans is nicely balanced with a more form fitting sweater. And the hat finishes the look very well.

  3. Perhaps a belt for the jeans might be nice complement, though the outfit doesn't necessarily need it.

  4. yeay man pants. Comfort is key when you'll be sitting around for awhile. You look cute and comfortable!I wish I could wear Mario's jeans he has an awesome pair of grey jeans but I'm just too short for them. I once had a bf who would borrow my jeans - but that was back when they didn't make all those skinny jeans for guys. ah- the joys of dating boys in bands.

  5. I really like the look of the "man pants" on you, and I love it for me as well. If my husband wasn't over a foot taller than I, I would be stealing his jeans on a regular basis!

  6. I used to wear nothing but "man pants" (men's Levis 550s). Then I discovered the Gap Long and Lean. But man pants are definitely useful sometimes. This is a cute look on you!

  7. I like this outfit, and the hat tops it all off (har har). You've got me seriously contemplating raiding F's closet.

  8. I agree with Audrey, that the fitted top looks great with the baggy jeans. I used to only wear men's jeans because they had a shorter rise and I am very short-waisted and all ladyjeans looked ridiculous on me. But then the whole low-rise phenom began and I switched back. I still don't quite understand the concept of "boyfriend" jeans that aren't just your boyfriend's jeans.

  9. @Sal: Thanks for sharing the wisdom!
@Audrey: Thanks. I'll think about a belt for next time.
@LaFille: Maybe you could cuff them over boots? Your ex sounds funny
@Allie: You could re-hem a pair that he's sick of!
@Cynthia: When GAAD is over, I'm gonna get myself a pair of those epic long and leans.
@K.Bean: F's closet would be awesome for your "growing" needs.
@D-Med: I don't get what boyfriend jeans are either, except some weird heteronormative thing. I also dig the low waisted jeans, despite having a longer rise, because they just fit better.

  11. What a great idea! I need to start raiding my man's closet. I think these jeans look great on you; the proportions are perfect and in fact they flatter your figure quite well, especially with the fitted top.
