When I started the 30 for 30 challenge a couple weeks ago, my biggest concern was having to keep up with taking outfit pictures on the weekend.  Posts like this remind me why I don't normally blog on the weekends - I dress sooooo boring!  Seriously, snooze fest.  Most of the weekend was spent running errands to get stuff for Thanksgiving, so there was really no reason to get too dressed up.

I took some inventory of my item list on Saturday and noticed there are 5 items I have yet to wear.  I swapped 4 of those out in favor of more versatile items (well, at least I hope) and/or things that might be more weather-appropriate.  I've seen Kristen and La Historiadora de Moda swap unworn things out, which I hadn't even considered before reading their posts, but I think it's okay for the challenge.  It was unseasonably warm when the challenge started, so I wasn't thinking about needing warm sweaters or shoes that weren't ballet flats or high heels (including my Converse low-tops, inspired by their inclusion on E-Jo's list).

Is anyone else swapping?  How's your weekend going?

This necklace is silver, but looks gold thanks to crappy lighting

hello

  1. Anne--I really like the green and gray pairing, with the Converse. Wish I had my converse...in my 30 items.

As for swapping, I've been going around to all of the remixers on the list and I'm finding that this swapping is fairly common. I haven't done it yet, but then I'm down to about 3 unworn items. Fingers crossed, I'll make it with my original items.

  2. So are we going to do weekends on our "no repeats workdays and weekends" challenge?

I was actually pretty proud of myself for putting on real pants both days this weekend, although I didn't manage to photo my Saturday outfit.

  3. Whew, glad to see it's not just me swapping! I have now worn all 30 items so I am locked in now. Hopefully I can make it the next two weeks, LOL!

  4. Terri: Thanks! I'm definitely glad I added my low-tops to the list as a last-minute swap. But I'm glad to hear swapping has been fairly common. I think I *could* go on with my original items, but since I had the option to swap, I may as well.

Cynthia: I think we can include weekends - I could dress better on weekends for sure, but right now I just feel kind of limited. And I didn't get dressed until at least 3 either day this weekend, which I was also proud of :)

Kristen: Nope, it's not just you! I only have 2 unworn items before I'm locked in too.

  5. Good for you for swapping. It seems to make sense, especially with the weather being odd. It was a high of 45 today and it will be in the 60s tomorrow.
I really like the green sweater. Have we seen it on the blog before? Another fella influence, right?
I hear you on weekend dressing. I went out on Friday and Saturday but found my outfits so blah that I didn't bother taking a picture.

  6. I think swapping is a really good idea.

My weekend outfits are definitely less exciting that my work week looks. I usually live in the same pair of Old Navy jeans all weekend.

  7. I swapped out two light, short-sleeved dresses for a pair of pants and a sweater and a pair of flats for my Ugg Duckboots. I mean, it was 70 when this thing began and now it's snow and freezing rain. Gah!

Your Converse are really making me wish that mine hadn't been left out on the back porch in the elements for two weeks while we were gone....

  8. it's really hard to predict the weather a month in advance, and sometimes when it's warm we can't even imagine going outside into freezing temps - i'm sure the swaps will work out well!

Maybe the challenge will make you want to dress differently on weekends? Even when it's jeans and a tee, you can use accessories to take looks up to a higher level.

    Chic on the Cheap

  9. Rad: Nope, I don't think this sweater has been on the blog before. And I suppose a lot of the green I own might be due to Fella. But I really do need to step it up on the weekend. Or do something on weekends that requires me to get dressed.

Rebecca: I live in the same jeans and gym clothes most weekends too!

LHdM: I guess 30 for 30 didn't take the Midwest's flukey fall-into-winter weather into account. Thank goodness for swapping! But is there any hope at all for your Converses?

Lyddie: I think my swaps were good choices, unless of course it's 70 for the rest of the challenge. Which I'm not totally ruling out.
