Later and later

DSCF5911

One major problem of the "flexible" professorial work schedule is that in the beginning of the semester, I am bright eyed and bushy tailed and up early and ready to go. And now I am taking my time, leaving the house later and later, and maybe (just maybe) marginally less stressed about that extra 10 minutes I might want to reorganize my thoughts for class. Perhaps this isn't the smartest strategy for the last 4 weeks of classes. 16 week semesters are long though. Here's to the last month.
Thanks again to everyone for your advice on Wednesday. I was very lucky, as all the students were cooperative and not disruptive. I did break them up into groups, so that worked well.
Today's outfit is influence by Cynthia. I love the way she uses long, swingy lines on top. I had a different outfit with a real sweater planned for today, but the weather is pretty mild. I was hoping for actual cold, but maybe later. I heard that it snowed in Minneapolis this weekend, so I am madly jealous.

Dress: Uniqlo
Summer weight cardigan: Loft
Belt: Thifted
Boots: Paladium
Tights: Uniqlo

  1. You look great. I love the blue and black combo. You do not know how close I was to wearing a knit dress/drapey cardigan combo today. I'm sick, but still have to head in for at least a part-day at work, and isn't it the most comfy thing in the world? I do the later and later mornings thing too, but then, I was up early on Sunday and working on journal editor duties so I think it all balances out. The dark side of academic flexibility is that you can work all the time if you're not careful.

  2. Wow, I'm not jealous of snow or cold weather. At all. Probably because we're stuck with it for a good 3-4 months anyway, so I'm in no hurry for that to start.

I like this outfit because the dress is so bright! It looks fantastic on you.

  3. @Cynthia: Eek, too late! The flexibility of the academic lifestyle means I'm at my computer almost whenever I'm awake or not on the train/teaching. It gets better, right?
@Anne: Thanks. I like this blue too. I am just jealous of how pretty snow is when it first falls. Not the crust, weeks old brown stuff.

  4. I love this simple look - the blue is fabulous on you.

I am also not feeling like putting much effort into my clothes lately. Bleh.

  5. hehe I know snow would be nice - new snow - not the old gross snow that it all inevitably becomes.

You look great- and comfy too. Always a plus!

  6. Blue and black is my current favorite combo. Big thumbs up from me!

And it snowed like crazy. The snow was so heavy that the weight of it downed trees and powerlines. Crazy.

  7. I always like long sweaters paired with dresses.

It did snow like crazy this weekend. I'm not a winter person, so it made me a little sad. I'm thankful we didn't lose power during the storm, like a couple people I know.

  8. @Sheila: Many thanks. I think it's some mid November slump. I hope to get out of it soon.
@laFille: New snow is the best! And I feel quite comfy in this (hopefully don't look too comfy).
@Sal: Eek, I hope that there wasn't too much damage to your house or your friends' places.
@Rebecca: Oh no. I'm glad you didn't lose power too. Did you get any pictures?

  9. I'm not quite ready for full on snow storms yet. we usually get plenty of those in jan/feb (remember last winter?!) but a little bit of white might not be too terrible.

  12. I also like the cobalt and black.

If it makes you feel any better, I come in at noon if I don't have meetings!

  14. @Lyddie: Last winter was crazy!
@Gina: Thanks! Blue is one of my least scary colors.
@Jesse: That does make me feel better. You work late.
@Ann: Your blue shirt from the other day was also a lovely color.
@FutureLint: Isn't it the best? I miss MN.

  15. I'm right there with you on the later and later mornings. Also, 16 week semester? Seriously? We've got a 14 week term here and that feels unending. Though the end is in sight and, with Thanksgiving next week, teaching things are feeling manageable. Now if only my own work was in the same state...

  16. @E-Jo: I hear you on the work! I always feeling that I'm being so unproductive but I usually get enough work done that it's not a total disaster (bet you do too).
In my school's defense, we have A LOT of Jewish holidays in the beginning of the semester that throw everything off. We have 30 classes sessions a semester.
