30 for 30, Day 16: A Low Fat Copy Cat

Today's outfit is inspired by Kristen at Low Fat Dressing.  I had never even considered the long boyfriend cardigan as an option for me or something that would look good until I started seeing Kristen wear all of hers.  She manages to keep this style looking fresh by pairing it with different tops, belts, scarves and jewelry (check out her 30 for 30 intermission, which features a few such looks, including this exact cardigan!).

Fella and I are both off work today so that we can get ready for tomorrow's Thanksgiving feast.  I already got started on cooking last night (I made pumpkin souppupmkin cupcakes and a cheeseball) so today I'll be cleaning our apartment and picking up last minute stuff, like beer and a fire extinguisher.  Fella and his brother are both making turkeys, one of which will be deep-fried, so we can't be too careful there.  What are you up to today?

Look, I even coordinate my baked goods to my outfits

Cardigan (item #2): Loft
Tee (item #18): Old Navy
Shoes (item #27): Converse
Scarf & Earrings: New York & Company

  1. You can totally wear the boyfriend cardigan, and I love it with the scarf! Adds some softness and flow to a boxier item.

Today? Minor shopping for the rest of our low-key Thanksgiving feast. Heady anticipation of 4-day weekend. Snacks.

  2. Thanks for introducing us to Low Fat Dressing. Cardigan styling is clearly one of Kristen's superpowers. Also, I really like how you've styled your purple (wine-coloured?) cardigan. I've got a similar one that I now have some more ideas for styling, thanks to you.

Also (x2), Oh. My. Goddess. Those cupcakes are making me drool all over my sad baked-potato lunch. And how do you like a deep-fried turkey? I've never had one, but my aunt and uncle make one every year.

Finally, I've been trying to convince a VERY reticent E-Jo that it is her patriotic duty (to her new country) to get a backyard deep fryer (sp?) and fry up a turducken. I'm totally using this post as further evidence that I am right.

  3. As I've told you before A-Dubs, I'll deep fry a turducken when you and the Hubs come and visit me.

That scarf is fantastic. What a great outfit entirely, though. I like the contrast between the Chucks and the lacy-look scarf. I'm also pretending I didn't see those cupcakes as they are inducing serious envy.

  5. I am diggin' the accessories. I am taking the day off today and not doing much of anything. Tonight I'll make a cheese ball of my own and some other appetizers to take to dinner tomorrow.

  6. E-Jo: probably you'll need a backyard deep-fryer to practice with before we get there. The Mini-FR can fire marshall while you fry. Tell her, Anne.

  7. Fried Turkey! I want to be part of the Shepwell Thanksgiving. Someday, when I teach a Tuesday/Thursday class. I can dream, right?
You're totally challenging Kristen here, and you look great. Happy T-day!

  8. Kelly: Enjoy your low-key Thanksgiving! And the snacks, enjoy the snacks.

A-Dubs: The cardigan is actually a bright pink, although I guess it always looks purple in pictures. And I've actually never had a fried turkey before - Fella's brother is buying us the turkey fryer for Christmas, and tomorrow will be my first experience with it. Fella's smoking a turkey, which is brining as we speak. And E-Jo SHOULD get a turkey fryer and host a Stylenation party.

E-Jo: See above - get a turkey fryer and have us all for some fried turducken! Although, would it be excessive if we wrapped it in bacon? I'll bring my fire extinguisher for mini-FR.

Jewelscapes: Wow, thanks! I'll have to stop by :)

LHdM: Ooh, what other appetizers? Have fun tomorrow!

Rad: That would be so fun some year! My mom is standing in as co-chef tomorrow, but it's so not the same as our cooking parties.

  9. Just think how adorable the mini-FR would look in a fire hat. And, like the FR (original size), he's a big fan of being in charge so he'd be all over fire marshalling.

  10. Okay, that image alone is reason enough to get yourself a backyard turkey fryer. And Jude could... yeah, I don't know about Jude fire marshalling. But he could look really adorable while this is all going on.

  11. Aww, oh my gosh, thank you for the homage and sweet words! Just made my whole day. :)
I love that cardigan, and it looks great on you. I have it in mustard yellow too that I am dying to fit in again soon.

I would kill for deep-fried turkey or any turkey right now. We had an oven disaster and dinner is going to be hours late. Whoops!
