Say yes to polyester
Please excuse the Muppet face*. I was battling hormone raging pre-pubescent kitty this morning and I was probably try not to laugh as that white tried to teach me a lesson. This red skirt is in response to Sal who asked about our "happy" pieces. I am not in a bad mood today, but I thought I should wear the skirt that always makes me pretty cheerful. I picked it up for $7 in the "vintage" section at the Ragstock in Uptown Minneapolis back in 2004. It wrinkles easily, the wrap style isn't entirely secure, and the buttons look very cheap, but I love it so much anyway. It's basically indestructible.
I realize that in the past, when I've worn this cardigan, the outfit shots suggest that this is a grey cardigan, but it's actually striped!
Stripe cardigan: LOFT (consignment)
Button up shirt: JCrew (interview top from 2007)
Skirt: Ragstock/secondhand
Shoes: Naturalizer
Tights: Uniqlo
*(A term I stole from my buddy Koo, referring to the silly look one sometimes makes in a full on shot)

Woo hoo! I LOVE polyester, I must admit it. And I love red, too. So your happy skirt makes me happy too.
ReplyDeleteWow, talk about red hot! I love this skirt on you. And this whole outfit looks so good together.
ReplyDeleteI love the skirt! I'm waiting for it to cool down a little bit more before I bust out my favorite thrifted J.Crew red felt pencil skirt. Your outfit has me almost wishing for cooler temps.
ReplyDelete@Sal: yeay for polyester fun!
ReplyDelete@Anne: Thanks! This is me attempting color
@LaHdM: I remember that skirt. It's so pretty. I kinda wish it was still warm out, since our heat hasn't been turned on yet.
What a great skirt. 'Gotta love the indestructible polyester fibres! And they're best in skirts, no? Otherwise there's the seemingly inevitable memories of sweaty armpits past. Or is that just me? Hmm. Maybe this is an overshare.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, you look great in your happy skirt. Red and gray is one of my favourite combos, and I like how the striped cardi adds even more punch to an already punchy (read: awesome) ensemble.
A-Dubs, I have a good polyester dress and what makes it good that it has these ruffles for sleeves--no armpits at all, but a definite sleeve.
ReplyDeleteSo no, not an overshare.
Rad, I like the outfit. I always do black on the bottom color on top, and so you are inspiring me to shake it up a bit.
Ooh, I especially love those shoes!
ReplyDeleteooooo, this is good stuff, good stuff indeed. The tights, the stripes, the RED. I feel inspiration about to hit...Ouch.
ReplyDeleteLove the red skirt. And I love it with the grey. Unlike the more sophisticated A-Dubs, I've never paired these two colors, but I'm totally going to now!
ReplyDeleteI like a good polyester piece of clothing. The fabric has its drawbacks, but it sure is durable.
ReplyDeleteI really like this outfit. It's the kind of outfit that makes me look at myself and think "I wish I looked that crisp and graphic instead of all this messy color and pattern and flowers". Seriously. I'm up to my neck in flowers and fluff, and suddenly I'm craving black and white stripes and sharp pencil skirts.
ReplyDeletethats a very pretty cardigan! I remember when my kitty was in heat and I swear I didnt sleep a whole night through for like five months it was horrible. I dont think I could go through that ever again, good luck
ReplyDeleteI simply love red skirts, and this one makes you look so tall (or maybe you are just always tall and I'm only noticing now)
ReplyDelete@Cynthia: I love your floral ways, but I also like it when you go neutral/sleek. You look good with both styles.
ReplyDelete@Eli: Thanks for the kitty story. Must get Buster to the vet!
@LyddieGall: Thanks! I am 5'7 1/2" (that 1/2 inch counts!) I'm not really tall, but I am not short. But I am not leggy, so I think appear shorter than I am?
@Away from the Keyboard: Have you considered turning said dress into a skirt?
5'7 1/2" is the perfect height, if I do say so myself :)
