Early Spring Cleaning

01/29/11
Inspired by Thursday's closet cleaning, Fella and I spent our entire Saturday cleaning our apartment.  We have a 2 bedroom apartment, but until today, the second bedroom was pretty much unlivable, just used for storage.  We completely cleaned that out, and our walk-in pantry.  It was exhausting, but much needed and I definitely feel a sense of accomplishment.  It's nice to continue the de-cluttering.  As with my closet, I threw out a lot of stuff that's been moving around with me for years now.  Things I didn't really need, but couldn't part with.  I put together another bag of clothes to donate, and found a couple pairs of work pants that had been missing from my closet for a while.  So all in all, a pretty productive Saturday.  To reward ourselves, we're having a rare date night - going to see the new "True Grit" at our neighborhood theater and then heading out to dinner.

Have a nice weekend!

  1. Did you come across anything you had forgotten you owned? I decked out a new jewelry rack this week thinking I didn't have much and then came across MANY wonderful items I'd been given.

  2. I loved "True Grit" - did you like it? I can't resist a) Jeff Bridges, b) a Western, or c) a Coen brothers' movie.

I've been cleaning lately too - feels great, doesn't it?

  4. It always feels great to declutter. Sometimes I declutter before there is actual clutter which can be stressful for my husband. I like youir stripey cardigan!

  5. YAY! for accomplishments and rewards for accomplishments! I heard all sorts of great things about "True Grit." Hope you enjoy it. I cleaned up a bit too, just transporting 50 lbs of library books from various parts of my house to my desk, and man, do I feel accomplished!

  8. To all who asked, I really liked True Grit! I liked the whole mood of it, and the wit of the main characters was awesome. If you haven't seen it, I'd definitely recommend it.

Terri: I did find a bunch of winter accessories (scarves, gloves, etc.) that I had forgotten about, so that was a fun discovery. Especially since it's still winter!

Sheila: I agree on the Coen Brothers love. I think this was by far one of my favorites of their movies.

Lyddie: Oh, the apartment is far from being free from clutter. But it's a start at least!

Allison: Yeah, it drives Fella nuts when I do that too! Yesterday he was just happy that I didn't get out of bed and immediately start cleaning, which I have been known to do.

Laura: Whoa, 50 pounds of library books? I'd feel pretty accomplished even reading all of that!

Rad: I didn't look so cute actually cleaning though!

  9. I liked "True Grit" as well--but I almost always like the Coen Brothers' films.

With all this cleaning out, you seem to be getting ready for spring. What will you do with the spare room, now that you can use it?

  10. Charlotte: Good question! We don't really have a plan for the second bedroom just yet. Currently I think it'll just be a room for guests, but I'd like to see it turn into an office/den sometime in the future.
