Fashionably Late
I'm a little late to the stripes party going on over at Everybody, Everywhere, but better late than never. Technically the theme was Breton stripes, but I don't own any. I do own plenty of other striped things though, so I couldn't pass up thte h. I tried this top with various cardigans and dress pants for work, and I just didn't like it. Maybe it's me, but the top felt like it needed to go with denim. I dressed it up for the office by wearing a denim skirt, tights and nice flats, and a big ol' necklace. And look, I'm even sporting double stripes (on a cardigan that may look familiar to Cynthia).
So about the necklace. After seeing a clear, beaded necklace on E-Jo earlier this month, I realized what my jewelry collection was lacking. I found this at New York & Company, on sale, and used a coupon, so it ended up being maybe about $10. Not bad for a cute, super versatile piece. I mean what doesn't clear go with?
Who else is sporting some stripes?
Cardigan: Gap
Tee: Gap Outlet

I think you did a terrific job of finding the right pieces. Great dog too.
ReplyDeleteI like your double-stripe action! I personally am wearing polka dots today, 'cause that's how I roll.
ReplyDeleteI'm not sporting stripes. However, I really like your iteration, especially the stripe mixing. Also, I love photos of you and Jude, and these ones are especially adorable. Is that the brick of your building behind the close-up of that great necklace?
ReplyDeleteJudy: Thanks for stopping by! :) My dog perks up and jumps in the shot a LOT when he seems the camera come out.
ReplyDeleteCynthia: You rocked your own stripes yesterday, so polka dots are a logical next step.
A-Dubs: Aw thanks, Jude was going for especially adorable. And the bricks are at the back stairwell of my building.
Yay! I'm glad you joined. We love all stripes!
ReplyDelete(And, Cynthia, I'm wearing dots today, too!)
The Auspicious Life
You're looking mighty fine in that denim skirt! I also like the green with these pieces.
ReplyDeleteYou're making me wish that I had bought that cardigan in green!
ReplyDeleteThat denim skirt is killer - I have such a hard time finding one that isn't slit too high.
ReplyDeleteI will be wearing stripes today but they're yellow, green and blue and are vertical. Crazy!
You are rocking those double stripes, and the denim skirt looks fantastic. I love it when your dog makes an appearance. Mind seem to be curious about the beeping that my timer makes, and come to investigate.
ReplyDeleteYou have the world's most loyal-looking dog! Jude always seems to be adoring you in these shots.
ReplyDeleteThis is a nice casual outfit, Anne. I'm not a fan of stripes on myself, but this is sweet and fun on you.
I love the stripes with the mossy green!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the sweet comment! Bailey is feeling better thanks to antibiotics and TLC.
Aww, Jude. Why are you so cute?
ReplyDeleteI love the green with the black & white. I just put a similarly colored Gap cardigan into my "donate" pile as it had shrunk irredeemably and it pained me to no end. Is this a recent version? It might be a necessary replacement... A
Also, great necklace! Makes me want to put mine on now!
I did the stripes...but more importantly. Damn girl, I love the skirt. I WISH I could find something like it.
ReplyDeleteThe necklace was a great add to the outfit too, great touch.
Linda: EBEW is such a cool project! I can't wait to see what's next :)
ReplyDeleteRad: Thanks, the skirt works wonders!
Rebecca: Just like you made me wish I had even seen the cardigan in light purple. I only bought two, but I wish I had more.
Sheila: There is a slit in the back, but I've had a rough time finding a decent denim skirt myself. Loft no longer sells this one. Old Navy and Gap both have decent pencil skirts, though I don't know if they ship to Canada.
Allison: I'd like to say Jude's just investigating, but I really think he knows I'm taking pictures and is posing on purpose.
Charlotte: I own quite a few striped things, but don't wear them too often because I don't always like the look of them either. I think the cardigan helps with that though.
LHdM: I'm glad to hear Bailey's doing better!
E-Jo: Yes! Let's be necklace twins!
Miss B: See my comments to Sheila above, I had a near impossible time finding a decent denim skirt too! Who knew they were so hard to find?
you know, i don't think i could ever--seriously EVER--get tired of b&w with green as a color combo. it's so fresh. honestly, i love this look. and, yes, better late than never. you look fabulous!

Hold on. A breton stripe is a horizontal stripe in black, navy or red that is evenly spaced.
ReplyDeleteI swear I read that somewhere. what makes your stripes not breton?
And you look great - day late or not.
Chic on the Cheap
Brittney: Technically it's navy and white, but I definitely agree on black, white and green! Or anything and green, really. Thanks for stopping by :)
ReplyDeleteLyddie: Really? I couldn't find an exact definition, but all of the pictures I found looked like thicker stripes, so I wasn't sure. A stripe is a stripe, I guess.
Great outfit. You look gorgeous in green, and I love the double stripe.
ReplyDeleteClear (plastic, perspex, whatever) jewelry is in yet again this spring, apparently. You're ready!
