No Repeats, Day 25
Good morning/almost afternoon, Stylenation! Yesterday's outfit isn't really worth posting (just jeans and a t-shirt since I was hanging around the house all day), so let's just skip straight to Monday, shall we? Today's outfit draws inspiration from a couple sources. First, from the grey/black/colorful scarf ensemble over at Tall Girl Blogging over the weekend. I personally get kind of bored in such a neutral-heavy outfit, but I liked the way that Allison used a colorful scarf to liven up her black and grey, so I copied that.
And the curry, you ask? That comes from the comments for yesterday's post. I used spicy colors like paprika and cilantro to brighten up my winter outfits, upon Charlotte's suggestion last week. Yesterday Terri challenged me to try some curry. I love curry the flavor (it's fantastic on wings, of all things), but don't own any yellow clothing. At all. Unlike yesterday's green, which is pretty much a perfect compliment to my coloring, yellow is not this pink-skinned, freckled brunette's friend. I wish I could pull it off like I've seen Sheila and Kristen (to name a few) do in the past. Or bold enough to wear awesome yellow pants, like LyddieGal has. The best I can do is wear it in brooch form (Brooch-wielding is, after all, my super power).
Sweater & Scarf: Loft
Pants: New York & Company
Brooch: Etsy
Earrings: Christmas gift from Fella
Ring: Gift from Fella, via Dublin, Ireland
Shoes: Nine West via Piperlime
Yellow is definitely not my color either. I have a yellow tone to my skin. The brooch is fantastic!
ReplyDeleteThat is a fantastic brooch. I don't own much yellow either, for the same reason.
ReplyDeleteI like yellow accessories that are not up against my face (as it's clearly yellow toned as well). I dig this brooch and blouse.
ReplyDeleteIf you're interested in yellow clothing shopping, I know someone who'd be willing to shop with you the first weekend of February. A yellow belt and shoes might also punch up a grey/black/blue outfit.
Terri & Rebecca: Well, at least I'm not the only one who can't pull off yellow!
ReplyDeleteRad: Oh boy, shopping help! I just remembered I do own 2 tops with yellow in them, so I'll have to keep those in mind. And I do have yellow shoes, but I kind of don't like them. They're not comfy for long periods of time, and they stick out too much for me. I don't rock them like you do. Let's look for a different color :)
Thanks for the mention!
ReplyDeleteI think you look lovely. But I'm a sucker for neutrals and a bright scarf. I love the way you've pinned the brooch to the scarf. I need to give that a whirl :)
I can't wear yellow at all. Bummer.
Well, what about red curry? Or green? The last time I was in a thai restaurant they seemed to have a curry for nearly every color, hehe.
ReplyDeleteI do like having a simple outfit and letting a bold scarf be the star. It's such an easy way to keep things fresh.
Random question, I thought if you had a fella, you wore the Claddagh with the heart facing you?
Lyddie: Good question! I've looked this up so many times, and I swear the answer changes every time. I wonder if there's an authority on Claddaugh rings out there someplace? When I first got the ring, I had read that wearing it pointed outward (how you see it on my hand) on your right hand indicates that you're in a relationship, but I think that's wrong.
ReplyDeleteI just told Fella that I'm finally wearing it right, and he jokingly thanked me for committing. After 3 and a half years together!
