It's a brilliant 50 plus degrees in NYC and I am in my windowless office. I'm not complaining (I get my own office to decorate and take photos in). I love that it's that sweet time between winter and spring when it's beautiful outside, weather wise, but not so springy that I get allergies. Since I am a big ole' hippie in spirit, I rarely use allergy meds, so managing spring hay fever is labor intensive. (But good for building character, right?)
This is my first attempt to wear the Etsy blouse that I mended a few weeks ago. The challenge is that it's quite thin silk, and therefore a little transparent. I bought a slip type thing, but actually the cut of the top made it worse, so I ended up going with a nude bra and a cami for modesty's sake (I do stand up for about 5 hours in front of young people, aged 18-24 on average). Our secretary said it passed muster, and I totally trust her to give honest fashion judgments.
I am also trying out the "paper bag waist," where you hike up a skirt and cinch it with a belt, making it look like the top of a crumpled paper bag. The problem is that the belt tends to fall all over the place. I just need to periodically adjust.
I got this red belt at Not Just Vintage yesterday. I have been searching for a cute thin red belt for a while. It's my attempt at a "pop of color," that style necessity that so often evades my choices.

Great outfit! I know what you mean about this time of year. I'm loving the warm-ish weather and lack of hay fever (although last week I saw some neti-pots for sale at our neighborhood mom & pop pharmacy and thought of you!). Any weather above 40 degrees and I feel like it's a waste if I don't wear a skirt. I'm glad you're joining me in that today, especially since no one in my office seems to be :)

I like this outfit very much - the blouse is beautiful! I love paperbag skirts too, they just bring something extra to an outfit. I might know why you had to keep adjusting the skirt. I have discovered that in order to paperbag skirts to keep their shape, they need to have really wide belt loops that keep all the extra fabric pert and "together". Otherwise the volume keeps drooping and pulling the skirt down.
