So Long, Farewell

06/03/11
Tonight was our very last night of apartment living.  After 7 years and just as many apartments, it's pretty awesome to stop paying rent.  But it's a little weird to say goodbye to my home of the past 3 years.  Fella and I had only been dating a year when we moved in, and we had only lived in our apartment - described on craigslist at the time as a sunny, charming vintage apartment on a quiet, tree-lined street - for a month when we adopted Jude.  We've had a lot of good times here, had Rad and other fun visitors, hosted several parties and gone through all kinds of interesting life experiences.  But as they say, onward and upward.

Don't let the pretty dress and fresh face fool you - I spent the day cleaning up the condo, after spending the better part of 12 hours on Thursday painting.  I couldn't have gotten it all done without the tireless efforts of Fella's parents.  We had dinner with them and Fella's godparents tonight, and it was nice to get out of my painting clothes and just relax for a while.  But still, I'm exhausted from all the hard work!  And yet so excited about the move tomorrow that I can't sleep.  Am I rambling?  I think I'm rambling.  What are you up to this weekend?

Dress: eShakti
Sandals: Birkenstocks
Jade necklace: Randolph Street Market (purchased during this blogger outing)
Watch: Fossil
Bag: Coach, gift from Fella's parents

  3. Yippe! Bring on a new era.  I love the pattern on the skirt. So sorry I haven't around lately, but I have been reading!

  4. Moving is exhausting but also fun and exciting.  I wish you many happy moments in your new home. How is Jude adjusting to the move?

That eShakti dress is divine on you.I'm running a marathon this weekend and hoping that I can cross the finish line with a smile on my face!

  5. It's new-ish! I got it before my vacation back in April (it snuck into my vacation wrap-up post) but the weather hasn't been too great for it thus far.

  6. Jude seems to be alright, but I'm not sure he's figured out we don't live at the apartment anymore. He should be good once we spend a few nights at the new place.

good luck with your marathon! You should definitely smile for finishing!

  9. You look beautiful...as you leave your apartment behind.  I know the times I have moved that I haven't been wearing anything I would remotely want to appear on a blog.

  13. It was a really lovely building. Our pretty old buildings are one of the many things I love about Chicago.

The dress is fabulous and making me rethink my resistance to eShakti.  (I like seeing clothing on people and so have a hard time with their website...)

And I know what you mean about how weird it is to leave a place that you have liked so well.  I am in a bit of denial, myself.

Not that I think YOU are in denial.  I am--about leaving my home of 6 years.  I kind of want to take it with me!

  16. Fella and I totally outgrew the space in our apartment, so in a way, I was more than happy to leave!
