Now and Then

06/06/11
Happy Monday! I'm finally back to the office after a nearly 2 week hiatus and honestly, after all of the work I did over the weekend to clean, pack, unpack, etc., it's a welcome break. I wouldn't say I've missed the fluorescent lights, but spending a few hours in my comfy ergonomic desk chair isn't all bad. I have a little catching up to do from being off last week, but nothing too major. And since we don't have internet at the new condo just yet, I have a lot of catching up to do on your blogs! How was your weekend?

We're slowly getting settled in at the new place. If you wondered, Jude seems to be adapting really well. He's already figured out which building and yard is ours when we go for walks, and he seems to like his new home. Phew! We had a chance to meet our new neighbors yesterday, and they're very nice, which is always good. In fact, the flowers that Jude is sniffing above are a gift from said neighbors.

On a personal note, today marks 7 years since I moved to Chicago - my Chicagoversary! It's hard to believe it's already been that long, but I guess time flies when you're having fun. The picture above was taken by the Chicago River, about 3 weeks before I officially moved here. Chicago is the longest relationship I've ever had, and like all relationships, we've had our ups and downs, but it's safe to say that moving here was the smartest thing I've ever done.

  1. Congrats on your new condo!

I moved here in 2004 too! In late August though, so I'm not quite at the 7-year mark yet.

  3. Yeay for the new place.  Can't wait to see it.
Younger Anne is super cute, but would she have guessed that future Anne would be so stylish and chic?  I bet she'd be very pleased.

  8. So glad Jude is doing well at the new place - that's always a fear of mine when we move.

It sounds like the new place is going well and you look fabulous and happy so it must be good.

  9. Happy Chicagoversary! :)

And I am glad to hear that you are settling in! It's always nice to have nice neighbors. I think mine hate me because they have to endure looking at my unkempt garden..

  10. Hurrah! Seven years means true love, just like a mini-break. And I'm perhaps more excited than is appropriate to see you on the balcony at your new place. I'm glad Jude's rolling with it, too!

Finally, you look great! I love the simplicity of the lovely dress with the big rich necklace against all that awesome brick.

  13. Love the new picture taking spot! And that dress and necklace.

Congrats on seven years in Chicago. This has made me realize that I've never lived anywhere for that long apart from the small town I grew up in. But what a great place to spend seven years!

  15. Why don't I have that dress?? LOL. So cute
Love the new picture-taking spot, but I suspect it will get chilly in the winter. And happy Chicago-versary! I have been here *gulp* 21 years this August, and I still marvel at it.
