Fixed Boots and a Found Dress
Since it continues to be cold and gross here, I can get away with wearing another short (for me) dress since I can still wear tights. I have no idea what I'm going to do once it's warm enough for me to wear bare legs again - I don't quite have the confidence to wear shorter lengths then. Maybe I'll get over it.
I just dug through old posts, and it seems it's been a full month since these boots have seen the light of day! The last time I wore them, I broke a heel! I wish I had a cool story about how it happened, but it was while I was standing around socializing with my co-workers. And nearly falling over mid-conversation because your heel has snapped is totally not embarrassing. Fortunately there's a good cobbler nearby, so they're good as new. They fixed them within a couple of days, but it took me a while to pick them up, and I just haven't been inspired to boot up.
This dress is another of many rarely-worn purchases from last winter that's just been hanging around the back of my closet. I usually wear this with a wide black belt to break the print up a little, but I wasn't feeling it today.

I love that dress! So, I have your dresses...I need to play around with styling them a bit. But, say I style successfully -- do you want me to try to send you something else? I still think it'd be fun to do a swap and I've got a couple of knit dresses that are probably pretty flexible.
ReplyDeleteAnother amazing dress! The print is marvelous, and the green adds a dash of spring.
ReplyDeleteIt's still cold here, too.
I keep meaning to reply to you about that - sure, if you have flexible knits, we can try. I definitely want to do a dress swap!
ReplyDeleteCool. I'll send something out this weekend. Something red!
ReplyDeleteThis is a great spring time outfit for a shitty Chi-town day. And I'm glad you got your boots fixed. Hopefully, they'll fair better than my last pair :)
ReplyDeleteOooh, this dress is fantastic. And I love it with the green. Also, the mini FR's new harness is bright blue. I think I'm unconsciously trying to make him a little Jude.
ReplyDeleteOoh, red? I'll find a way to squeeze myself into that!
ReplyDeleteAw, so mini-FR is doing a Jude copy cat? He'd be so flattered!
ReplyDeleteI think I just need to be more careful about leaning back on my heels, which I tend to do a lot in these boots.
ReplyDeleteRandom question, do you live in the Chicago area too?
It's getting even colder here - we have snow in the forecast tonight, and it'll get back into the 20's tomorrow. Yuck!
ReplyDeleteOoooh, the print on that dress is fantastic!
ReplyDeleteI think that dress is very cool, and would be amazing in the summer, so i vote to get over that fear!
ReplyDeleteI really like that dress, so I vote for wearing it in the summer.
ReplyDeleteIt's not too bad when I'm standing up, but it feels obscenely short when I'm sitting down!
ReplyDeleteLove the pattern on the dress. You are finding the best pieces in your closet!
ReplyDeleteAlso, yeay for fixin' the boot!
that dress is awesome!! i love the bold black lines on it. and i totally know what you mean about the benefit of tights in the winter. i thought it was warm enough to go bare-legged w/ a little dress last week, took one look in the mirror, and was like WOAH time to put those babies back on, haha.
ReplyDeleteI can't even imagine what kind of stuff I'll find when I really start cleaning to get ready to move!
ReplyDeleteHa! I totally have that day once the warm weather is here to stay too. Several times. Seriously, what will we do without tights?
ReplyDeletelol. That heel breaking story is fabulous!
ReplyDeleteAlso fabulous? This dress. I love a good, graphic print and this looks amazing.
Gracey
ah that's the best thing about tights, you can wear slightly shorter dresses!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE the pattern on that dress. It's so cool. I think it's a dress that you can wear with or without a belt. I love it without the belt here and the green accents are perfect.
ReplyDeleteuhm... that dress is GORGEOUS! and i think you would look fantabulous bare-legged (not to sound creepy) but i can imagine you rocking that dress with some kitten heels!
ReplyDeleteThat's not too creepy ;) I've been working on my legs all winter, so bare legs and short skirts may not be as terrifying as I think.
ReplyDeleteI really, really like this dress!
