Spring?
So it's technically spring, but it doesn't really look or feel it right now. Our high today is supposed to be 60, but it was pretty chilly out this morning when Jude and I went for our walk. And it's gray and overcast, so that, coupled with a Monday, made me reach for some darker colors. I know I chose to live in Chicago and all, but really, would it be too much to ask for spring to start with a warm, sunny day? Like the beautiful day depicted in the Gandharvas' First Day of Spring (have any of our Canadian readers ever heard this song? It takes me back to high school, when I was listening to lots of great Canadian music via our Windsor radio station).
Nevertheless, I had a pretty good weekend. I had my second knitting class yesterday, and I'm really starting to get the hang of it. And on Saturday, my girlfriends and I took a few dance classes. One was a 90's dance class, modeled after the moves from In Living Color's Fly Girls (wow, all kinds of 90's references in today's post), which was a ton of fun. But pretty much every muscle in my body is feeling it! We finished the day with manicures and martinis, so it was worth it. How was your weekend?

Spring, patooey! It's snowing heavily here in New England right now. Sigh. Nevertheless, I put away all my heavy sweaters yesterday, and refuse to drag them out again. (Hear that, ye weather gods?) Anyway . . . that's a really cute dress. And pinstripes are pretty much seasonless. (Are those sparkly pinstripes? Even better!)
ReplyDelete90s dance class? that sounds like a blast!!!
ReplyDeleteand spring is just stupid. I was in Chicago yesterday and it RAINED all day. It was cold and wet like Spring just stuck his/her? tongue at me.
I love that dress on you. It's such a great cut and it manages to be both feminine and business-y. I especially like the kind of matching elements between the shoes and the tights!
ReplyDeleteVery Very flattering dress. With the tights and shoe combo this is one rocking outfit.
ReplyDeleteI came home to WI this weekend and the rain, clouds and cold weather on the first day of spring is just too much for me. Back to NM today!
You look smashing in that dress! I'm so angry that it's supposed to snow here on Wednesday. Gargh!
ReplyDeleteI know, I know, how awful would it be for just some nice spring weather now that it is officially spring?
ReplyDeleteCongrats on getting the condo!
I love that dress!
ReplyDeleteThat dress looks great on you. We might get snow this week, which is a real bummer.
ReplyDeleteI remember that song!
ReplyDeleteThe dress looks great - we got another 10cm of snow here today. Yay spring?
Yay for mid-90's Canadian bands!
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear about the first day of spring snow. We're expecting some later this week too. Ugh.
We might too. Here's hoping the forecasts are wrong.
ReplyDeleteSpring weather in spring would just be... awful. Wait no, it'd be awesome.
ReplyDeleteHopefully it doesn't! It's supposed to snow here Thursday I think. And be just above freezing all weekend.
ReplyDeleteWe had all the rain and cold weather yesterday too - not fun!
ReplyDeleteYep, yesterday was pretty gross in Chicago. And I'm definitely a fan of 90's dancing! Though the instructor reminded us all how much younger and uninhibited we were in the 90's, so that's why the steps feel so rigid and awkward now...
ReplyDeleteI'd put away all of my winter stuff, but I'm afraid I'd just be jinxing our weather! As such, my heavy puffer coat and winter boots are still by the door, just in case. I might keep them out until April, who knows.
ReplyDeleteThe pinstripes are white, but there's a sheen to the material so that's probably why they look sparkly. I'd LOVE shiny pinstripes!
The matchy-matchy shoes and tights are my favorite part of this outfit. It's nice to do that in a color that isn't black for a change!
ReplyDeleteYou look fabulous in that dress!
ReplyDeleteThat's a great ensemble! Super flattering and I love the punch of color with the tights.
ReplyDeleteSanta Monica almost floated away yesterday, and several of the LA marathon runners were suffering from hypothermia after the race because of the cold and wind. Spring has definitely not arrived.
So, are you practicing stitches or actually knitting something at this point? I have a very long scarf I've worked on off and on for years...
ReplyDeleteHa! My (fellow Canadian) spouse was singing the Gandharvas' song this morning. And then it snowed.
ReplyDeleteThis dress is hot on you. Hot!
Both - I'm still doing a lot of practice stitches, but we're supposed to start a project this week. I'm going to start with a scarf and then hopefully build up to a blanket.
ReplyDeleteSnow today? Ick. Seems like a bad start to spring all around.
ReplyDeleteI love this belt. And your 90s references.
ReplyDeleteIt didn't feel like spring in Oregon today either. I wore orange to cheer myself up, but mostly I was just cold all day.
Holy crap! That dress looks AMAZING on you! Also, love the lavender mani!
ReplyDeleteThank you for noticing! It might be my favorite color of nail polish ever.
ReplyDeletedancing like a fly girl ( i used to love watching in living color)...sounds fun!!
ReplyDeleteLoving that great dress and those purple tights!
AWESOME dress! You look stunning!!!
