Easy Like Sunday Morning

03/13/11

This is not what I'm wearing today.  It's what I was wearing yesterday.  The day started with a 10am beginning knitting class at a neighborhood yarn shop.  I've never knitted in my life, but had been looking for another creative hobby (because blogging, photography, playing the piano and cooking/baking just weren't enough) so I decided to take a class to learn something new.  In part, it was to help combat my usual winter blues, but I couldn't get the class into my schedule until now.  It's a 4 week class, and I'm hoping that by the end I'll be able to knit plenty of scarves and hats, and baby blankets for all of my friends who are expecting right now.

Speaking of babies, my cousin just had a baby boy on Thursday, so I stopped at Old Navy on my way home from work on Friday to pick up a few gifts to send.  I feel bad being far away from my family when important things are happening, but at least I can let them know I'm thinking of them. And while picking up adorable baby clothes, I found this adorable polka dot tank top and pretty much had to get it.

Another stop on my way home was at Target.  Just as E-Jo suggested in the comments on Friday's post, I did pick up some sale boxed wine.  Not necessarily to help my back, but it didn't hurt. Which reminds me, thank you all so much for the nice comments on Friday!  My back seems to have mostly healed this weekend, and I was even able to do some strength training on it on Saturday.

But enough about me.  How was your weekend?

  1. That is a cute polka dot top! And look at how happy you are with your boxed wine. How was it?
Glad your back is a bit better.

  2. Why does the Old Navy near my work never have any of the cute stuff? Seriously, it's like they bought an empty concrete-lined space, didn't decorate it, and then threw all the clothes on the floor. Are all Old Navys like that? Methinks not.

Very cute outfit! I'm glad you're feeling better.

  3. That top is really cute!

My weekend was good - I spent it hanging out with my mom in much warmer Louisiana weather. Now I'm trying to make my way back to the upper Midwest....

  4. That top is really cute. Minnesota is no fun, because we can't buy wine on Sundays and they can't sell it at Target.

  5. So glad your back is better. Wine fixes everything! :) hahaha. and I am the same as you when it comes to creative procrastination-- I have to do ten different things at the same time to satisfy me!

  6. @Cynthia: the Brooklyn Old Navy is just like that, but add a line that goes out the door!

  7. so glad your back is getting better!

I love that polka dot top. It looks awesome on you - I like it paired with the red shoes.

I think I saw the top on the ON webpage last week - but it was on the front page that said, "styles we love!" Then I couldn't find where to buy it on the site...I should just stop by the store and check it out :-)

  8. Glad you and Jude (I don't see his bandage anymore) are feeling better! (and that tongue is too cute)
I love the new polka dots and when you can't see someone in person, what is better than a thoughtful gift in the mail?

  9. Rad: The boxed wine is always great!

Cynthia: Most of the city Old Navy stores are like that too, which is why I usually go to one in the suburbs or city outskirts (I'm a fan of the Lincolnwood Mall, if you ever went there during your Chicago days). I can never find anything cute and/or in my size at most city stores though.

LHdM: Time away from the Midwest sounds wonderful! Hope you had a nice time with your mom, and have a safe trip home!

Rebecca: I can't imagine a Target without wine. We always pick up a cube or two while there.

Laura: I like the term "creative procrastination."

Julia: They had a ton of them at the store I visited (it also comes in a peach color), so I'm guessing it's a new style, perhaps not yet available online?

Lyddie: Good eye, Jude is doing a lot better! Fella is hoping to take him out running again this week since his nail seems to have healed.

  10. Love your polka dots and those great red shoes! I am an avid knitter...hope your learning goes well...baby blankets are a good starter, as they are small and quick!

  11. Your superpower, and E-Jo's, is clearly shopping at Old Navy. This top is adorable. Almost as adorable as Jude. And the wine cube.

  13. Ooh... I'm glad you benefitted from the wine cube sale (I think the kind you're holding is the one sitting on my counter right now!). I just bought one before they went on sale and so couldn't justify another one -- even though I'm totally impressed by how reasonable the wine is in them!

Also, I LOVE that shirt. I saw it on a recent spin through Old Navy and thought that it looked so-so on the rack. You're making me re-think this snap judgement. And, I agree about the suburban Old Navies. Even though I don't exactly live in the suburbs (it's just like the suburbs without the city. Ugh.), our Old Navy is pretty reasonable.

Glad to hear your back is feeling better!

  14. rlutz: Quick isn't quite how I'd describe my knitting just yet :)

D-Med: It's true, E-Jo definitely finds good stuff at Old Navy. And nothing is more adorable than wine cube.

    Terri: Thank you!

E-Jo: Will your matching wine cube be making an appearance on IPF? We can be wine cube twins :) And maybe I should say Old Navies in densely populated areas have crap selection. Because they do. I haven't bought anything from there in months.
