This is my second skirt of spring break. I call this the "I should have been editing my paper" skirt. I've been working on something else that should be called "why grading is going so slowly." I got this American Apparel like jersey knit at Modeani's and just folded over the top twice, ironed, and did a basic zig zag stitch, and added a 1/2 inch elastic. This is the wrong way to do it. I should have stretched out the elastic, and zig zagged it into the jersey, but that's for next time. I had to hand sew some reinforcements to prevent the waistband from sliding too much. I didn't finish the end. I just made sure it was even enough. I figure if AA charges $35 for unfinished jersey skirts, I could live with that too. Not bad for about 2 hours of time.
I braved the crowds at Propsect Park this morning to meet a friend in this outfit. I like how this outfit reminds me of the simple, classic and uber chic outfits that Elaine at Much Clothed wears so well.
I am growing increasingly fond of the microfishnets. I found these for a song at Daffy's (a dangerous store).
It was probably too cold for this today, but it was nice to be outside and talking shop with a fellow professor/Brooklynite.

Nice skirt! Were you @ the GAP farmers' market this morning? I thought it might be you but the person was 2 people in front of me on line and I thought it probably wasn't you so I didn't want to get out of line and say to some poor stranger, "Hey, don't I know you from the innernette?"
ReplyDeleteBut now I see this post and those tights look familiar!
That's another fabulous skirt! Nice job! I really like the fishnets And you look so cute in this outfit :)
ReplyDeleteVERY cute outfit; I love the drape of the skirt! Funny, from the faraway shot it looked like you were in white tights and I was going to have to call a technical foul :) but then at the closeup I could see they were fishnets with cute diamond pattern, and all was well!
