Giving In To... Oxfords

10/21/11

Has there ever been a trend party that you've been super late to?  My most notable one thus far has been leggings.  I remember them being kind of big while I was growing up in the 80's, but it took me until just this year to finally snag a pair.  And now I'm finally embracing oxfords.  Rad has had a pretty sweet pair for a while now (so great, she even wore them to her wedding reception), but they never felt like my style.  I even remember girls at my high school wearing heeled oxfords with their uniforms and again, I liked them, but didn't think they were for me.  I've been seeing them all over the blogosphere this fall, and what finally did me in was Kristen of Low Fat Dressing's post devoted to her 3 awesome pairs of Franco Sarto oxford booties.  I had to have a pair of oxfords, and I finally decided to treat myself.  So after 15 years of admiring the style, I'm finally on board with a pair of my own.  What trend have you spent half a lifetime warming up to?

  1. I love your heeled oxfords!  It was Kristen who convinced me I need a pair (or two) as well.

  4. I was late to oxfords too - flat ones at least.  I've been looking for heeled oxfords for some time but they never have the ones I want in my size.

  5. I hear that - and I had to go up a size in these because they ran small (or maybe that's Born in general, I don't know).

  7. CUTE! I love Oxfords too, but I haven't yet come around to buying them yet until I find THE PERFECT pair. We'll see when that is...

  8. Oh Anne, these oxfords are so purty! I most definitely LOVE them to bits! I have to say, I was a hardcore leggings supporter. I remember wearing them as a kid back in the early 90s and when they went out of style, I was super sad because they were so comfy. I'm so glad they're back in style. I haven't gotten around to the whole safari vest trend. I dunno if I ever will.

  9. Those are nice shoes. I can't jump on the leggings bandwagon - I remember when they were "over" in the mid-90s and people being made fun of for wearing them. Style sure does go in cycles.
