I mentioned in yesterday's post that Fella and I were attending Obama's Birthday party. Above are some pictures from the event. OK Go, Jennifer Hudson and Herbie Hancock performed before the President gave a speech. The last time I saw him speak was in Grant Park, right after he won the 2008 election. It was an amazing experience. His speech that night was so inspiring, so full of hope for the future of this country, and it energized the crowd. It's been a hard couple of years, and his addresses to the nation seem to have lost the luster that his campaign speeches had. The President was overdue for a break, and returning home to Chicago for his birthday seems like it was such a breath of fresh air for him. He was recharged last night, and it showed in his speech. He talked to a packed theater of his supporters about the progress his administration has made, and his hopes for the remainder of this term and beyond.
