Needs necklace

Needs necklace, originally uploaded by Cohabitating_Closet.

Today is a hot day, the first in a series of deliciously cool days since the start of August. I knew my 6 would be a challenge on hot and muggy days, so this is attempt number one to stay cool but look mixed up.
This outfit was way cooler in my head than in the picture. I bloused the tunic with a satin ribbon as a makeshift belt, but doing so may have unfortunately lifted the bottom of the hem to the widest part of hips. And I originally had on some combat boots, because I was going for a Tank Girl thing, but then it was so hot I threw on the hardcore sandals. But now it looks like a whole lot of leg, which the bathroom mirror did not demonstrate.
Oh, and this outfit shows me that it wouldn't kill me to buy a few necklaces. I usually am not a huge fan of jewelry, but a chunky black or silver bead thing would make this look better. Maybe I can grab a few off a street vendor next time I'm in the city.
But that's OK, I'm just writing and staying cool today. Hope you all have a lovely Wednesday.

Tunic: AA
Shorts: UO, via Ebay
Shoes: Tahari, via DSW
Undershirt: stolen from fella
Ribbon as belt: M&J Trimmings

  1. Yes, a necklace would be good, but it would also be something else touching your skin, so you might be better off without it today anyway.

  2. A nice long strand of beads would be great with that neckline (red or yellow would be a great pop of color). Overall, I think the outfit does look pretty cool, largely because of the sandals and the lace detail on the shorts. And I don't think you're showing too much leg, even paired with sandals.

  3. As a necklace lover, I can only say HEAR HEAR! Though the peeking lace bike shorts are a a fabulous way to add sass to this ensemble, too.

  4. Not too much leg at all, Rad. Seems a modest length for shorts. It's cute!

  5. OMG I LOVE those shorts peeking out from the dress! Definitely not too much leg. You have great gams and I really like the layering effect of these pieces together. I also think that you allow the outfit to stand out more without a necklace.

  6. It's not too much leg. Those shorts too very cute layered with the dress. I do think a necklace would look nice, but the outfit is great on its own.

  7. Oh Rad, who cares if it's too much leg, your legs are great looking, all toned and shapely (and no it's not too much). I can't believe that is the same dress from two days ago. It looks completely different here. Way to go. I like the BA sandals with it. You should wear them more often. If you find a turquoise beaded necklace, buy it. That would be unexpected with this outfit, but edgy cool.

  8. Bah! Everyone else stole my comments. So, what they said. Especially the part about you looking all leggy and awesome. 'Hope the writing's going well.

  9. Thanks for the collective vote of confidence. I think I bum around all day and then I am surprised at how I look on camera. Oh well.
@SU: I will be wearing these shoes more, as they add just the right amount of awesome to an outfit. Also, a turquoise necklace would be beyond rad.

  10. Your remixes are making me want more tunics, and Tank Girl is always an excellent style model. I think she'd wear those sandals too, if the whole post-apocalyptic desert thing was friendlier to heels.
Also, I agree with everyone else: this is not too much leg.
