A Love of Red Shoes

Happy Friday!  Are you as excited that the weekend is here as I am?  I have nothing exciting going on this weekend, other than some Saturday morning yoga and a small BBQ, but that's a good thing.  It seems like so many summer weekends are just booked solid with parties, trips, out of town visitors, weddings, etc., that I'm really looking forward to doing nothing over the next couple of days.

Today's outfit, if you can believe it, was actually built around this pair of red Puma flats.  They're super comfy and extremely cute, if I do say so.  Red is a pretty awesome color for shoes, and it seems to go with just about everything.  I'm pretty tired this morning, so that's about all the discussion I can muster up.  In the meantime, please enjoy a trip down memory lane.

I picked up a bunch of old family photos while visiting my parents in Ohio last month, and this one exhibits my lifelong love for red shoes.  This is me with my cousin around Christmas 1987, so I would've been 6.  I don't know what's more awesome about this picture - the sassy red shoes, or my mini-WW pose (can this be my submission for the Wonder Woman Pose Conference?  I'm not sure that I can possibly top it).

Do you have any lifelong style habits and/or embarrassing pictures to share?

Cardigan: Loft
Tee: Target

  1. This is in no way an embarrassing picture. You are the picture of non-stop adorable-ness. Love the red shoes, in the 80s and now. Hope you enjoy your weekend (sorry that my out of town guestness in your apartment made summer weekends a wee bit more hectic!)

  3. I'm seeing a before and after double-pose submission for the conference. Also, with each post I become more convinced that we should share shoes. Probably we'll have to meet in the real world first.

In short and to sum up, those shoes are adorbs. And red shoes with a jean skirt is always the best way to go - unless you are 6, in which case, white tights and a polka dot dress are clearly the better option.

  6. Oh I definitely have embarrassing pictures. Just not ones that I'll share. :)

I love the green and red together! Red shoes are almost ALWAYS appropriate. Love it!

  7. Red shoes and jean, red shoes and white tights, you are rocking them both :) I second A-Dubs before and after pose. That would be brillant.

  8. All - thanks for the red shoe love!

It seems I shouldn't have revealed my Wonder Woman pose secret weapon early! But a before/after shot would be great. Now, where to find a white polka dot dress in my size...

A-Dubs: In the meantime, is it possible for us to set up some sort of mail-order shoe exchange program? Because you've got some pretty great kicks too. And since I'd be mailing you shoes anyway, I could throw in cupcakes and wine cubes.

Melissa: I love red and green together too! I haven't paired it much before for fear of looking too much like a holiday decoration, but that doesn't actually seem to be the case.

  9. Anne, I think we should host a red shoes conference. I keep saying I should do a post entitled "how many red shoes does one woman need?"

  11. Red shoes are an immediate day-brightener. I don't often wear red anything, but I do have four pairs of red shoes. I'm not quite sure how that happened. I'm glad you showed yours here, Anne, with a non-red outfit. It gives me some ideas!
