Blue Monday

It's Monday, so it's back to the grind.  How were everyone's weekends?  I had a chance to catch up with old friends, (fella's) family, and enjoy Chicago's awesome weather as of late.  Our forecast for the entire week is high 70's and sunshine, which I'm most definitely looking forward to.  Another week of work, on the other hand?  Not so much.

How do you psych yourself up for going back to work after a weekend/time off?  Is there any way to make Monday mornings a little easier to bear?

  1. I try various methods: "Maybe wearing bright colors will work this time!" etc. Usually, though, any sort of outfit I feel fabulous in helps mitigate those Monday feelings for me.

I really love these two tops you've paired together-- the colors complement each other really well-- especially with the gray shoes! The whole ensemble looks very coordinated without being matchy matchy. And your hair looks great!

  2. Sweet! Love that outfit. I'm also in bluey-greeny mode today.

Weekend? What weekend? I did have a good Zumba class on Saturday a.m. and a trip to the Farmer's Market, I guess. Today, I psyched myself up by saying "yes I know you've been working 12 hour days this weekend, but the grant proposal will be DONE by 5pm". And by thinking about the case of champagne that UPS will, hopefully, manage to successfully deliver to me within the next 48 hours.

  3. Ditto what Liz said, I try wearing really bright colors! Or make plans for Monday nights. It's always fun to do something different on a weeknight instead of the usual "come home after work, have dinner, go to bed" routine.

I love the ruffly top and those shoes are adorable!

  4. I, too, enjoy the blue and gray combo you've got going this morn. You're making Monday look easy, and it's soooo not.

A LOT of caffeine is the only answer I've found for the Monday. Well, that and making a lunch I'll look forward to eating, and scheduling an official cocktail hour at which point all work must cease.

But I like Cynthia's case-of-champagne-delivered-to-one's-door solution much, much better.

    And finally, nice Tsubos!

  5. Your ruffle top is so cute!
My only Monday advice is to just have everything ready sunday night -- outfit chosen, lunch made, ect, ect. So getting out of bed and out the door is as painless as possible.

  6. Cute shoes. I need lots of caffeine to get through a Monday, and a good dinner to look forward to when I'm done with work.

  7. Yes, Monday. Coffee, some more coffee, a great pair of shoes, and a cold bottle of beer (95 degrees here) in the fridge. Yes, that's Monday all right.

  8. Liz: I'm usually with you on bright colors... so naturally I went with blue and gray today.

Cynthia: A case of champagne waiting for me would make any day better! How do you like Zumba? I'm curious about trying it. And I hope you got your grant all finished!

Melissa: Ooh, Monday night plans is a great idea!

A-Dubs: Well, I had the caffeine and tasty lunch today, not so much on the cocktail hour. I'll have to try that next Monday. Do you think anyone would notice if I cracked open a box of wine in my cubicle around mid-afternoon?

Lyddie: Good advice! I try to do that most nights, but always manage to forget something. It does help though!

Rebecca: Agreed! But does it count if I'm the one making the good dinner?

SU: Coffee, great shoes and a cold beer is good for ANY day!
