Happy Monday! As I mentioned in my post last week, this weekend Fella and I attended the Pitchfork Music Festival here in Chicago. What did I wear? All of this:
Friday
Tank: Loft
Skirt: Old Navy
Sandals: Birkenstock
Hat: Pitchfork 2010
Sunnies: Loft
Saturday
Tank: Target
Skirt: Old Navy
Sandals: Chaco
Sunnies: Loft
Sunday
Dress: Old Navy
Cami: New York & Company
Belt: Target
Sandals: Privo
Hat: San Diego Hat Co.
Earrings: New York & Company
Pitchfork is definitely a scene, style-wise. There's a broad age range there, from kids in their teens to middle-aged folks still keeping up with the latest music. And accordingly, lots of different styles were present. Although most people - like me - were dressing to stay cool in the heat (Sunday it got into the mid-90's), there were definitely some trends. Most notably, styles from the 80's are back in a big way. Bright bold prints, neon colors, bandanas, oxfords and pleated skirts abounded. Personally I wasn't a huge fan of 80's style the first time around (to be fair, when I wasn't in my school uniforms, my mom was dressing me in horrible matchy-matchy outfits during the 80's), but it's fun seeing how kids who weren't even alive during that decade interpret the style.
And the music? The music was awesome. We saw Tune-Yards, Thurston Moore, Das Racist, Guided by Voices, Neko Case, Animal Collective, No Age, Destroyer, The Dismemberment Plan, Fleet Foxes, Superchunk, Deerhunter, Cut Copy and TV on the Radio. Whew!
How was your weekend?

That sounds like a blast! I love your festival going gear. I tried on that striped dress from Old Navy this weeknd too :)
ReplyDeleteHow did you like it? I'm still a little on the fence about it (though obviously I can't return it).
ReplyDeleteI do love Neko Case. And lime and/or purple with black & white. It's so much fresher than red, sparkier than gray. I stayed in the a/c as much as possible and sewed. Cottons! Let's hope it cools down some toward the end of the week--because the first part is looking broiled.
ReplyDeleteJealous, jealous indeed. Also, I love the stripey blue dress!
ReplyDeleteSounds like a great weekend. You dressed for the heat perfectly with the cotton skirts and tops...love your hats!!
ReplyDeleteOh how fun!! Your outfits were a lot of fun too. How was Neko Case?
ReplyDeleteShe puts on a great show! She actually has decent banter in between songs, and talked about some of the stories behind the songs and her time as a Chicago resident.
ReplyDeleteI'll always love the black/red/white combo, but it feels more fall-like than summer to me. The week is looking sweltering here, so I'm with you on hoping for a cool-down!
ReplyDeleteSuper jealous. I love Cut Copy and Neko Case is amazing. You and Fella should come down to Austin for ACL sometime!
ReplyDeleteAlso, I totally have that first skirt! It's awesome, isn't it? And I was really tempted by that striped Old Navy dress the other day. It looks great on you!
I knew you had one of those skirts - couldn't remember if it was that print or the yellow one. The skirt is so light and airy, perfect for a hot summer day! And paired with my E-Jo Birkenstocks, it was quite the copy cat :)
ReplyDeleteI've always wanted to do either ACL or SXSW, if only to visit Austin! My girlfriend and I were just talking about that last night because she and her husband love Austin and music festivals, so we think it'd be the perfect trip for us all. Might be too late to come this year without it costing tons of money, but we're looking at 2012!
I was really tempted by the yellow one but went with the black and white (though I saw the pink printed one is now on sale...). I've actually been surprised by how much I've worn it.
ReplyDeleteAustin is a really fantastic city. You should definitely come!
Oh, that looks like so much fun! And you looked fabulous for all of it. I especially love the striped Old Navy dress - it's crazy flattering on you!!!
ReplyDeleteGracey
Anymore the concerts I attend are sort of sad...as it is other middle-agers, mostly reminiscing! We have bald heads and conservative shoes now. Looks like you dressed right for some good music.
ReplyDeleteThere's nothing wrong with that! My first concert ever was seeing Jimmy Page and Robert Plant with my dad. I was 17, he was 51 and the crowd was a good mix of both age groups. It was a ton of fun!
ReplyDeleteAnd I stick with conservative shoes myself for concerts, though I did see a lot of girls sporting wedges and heels.
Believe me, Austin has been on my travel wishlist for years now. The music scene sounds awesome, and politically it's right up my alley (which shouldn't be surprising given where I live now).
ReplyDeleteI guess you'll have to visit Chicago some year during Pitchfork!
ReplyDeletethat does sound like it was pretty awesome! concerts all weekend? fabulous.
ReplyDeleteI love your striped dress too!
Lady, you look smokin' hot in that last outfit! That first skirt looks perfect for summer concert-going.
ReplyDeletePerfect festival wear for a hot weekend.
ReplyDeleteOMG, is that last Old Navy dress from this year? It is AWESOME. I might have to get one myself... :)
I lurve all your outfits!!!! I am not much of a festival girl (I'm a bit claustrophobic and I hate getting super sweaty unless I'm in the gym) so I went tubing down a river!
ReplyDeleteThat sounds awesome, and so refreshing!
ReplyDeleteYep, just got it last week. I'm still not positive it's the most flattering
ReplyDeletething, but it's great for casual/beach wear!
Hmm. Maybe I would like music festivals more if I possessed your talent for knowing EXACTLY what to wear to them. Seriously, I love ALL these outfits. ALL of them, sweetie-dahling.
