Melting
Happy Monday, Stylenation. How was your weekend? For the first time since early May, mine was not very busy, which was a pretty nice change of pace. We're having some hot and humid weather that seems pretty characteristic of a MIdwestern summer to me. And when I say humid, I mean steamy. I don't have numbers to back this up, but I'm pretty sure the humidity is at least 100% this morning. I'm writing this on the train, after a 15 minute walk seems to have totally cancelled out my shower, my hair is a giant frizzy poof, and my make-up feels like it's melted. I know, eiww. But I'll still take this over snow and cold. To combat the heat, I went with a light chambray dress. It's very breathable and airy, which helps in this heat.

This is my FAVOURITE ensemble. I want that dress! I hear ya about the humidity. I'm originally from NYC and we have all these complicated ways of beating the heat (my fave, sprinkle some baby powder between the sheets, hop in a luke warm shower and then right into bed, don't even towel off) but my adopted home really never gets to summer weather, maybe for a day or two, So I'm a little envious of your humidity. If it did get that hot, I'd sure as hell want that to be wearing that dress!!! ~ B.
ReplyDeleteThe dress looks totally fabulous. And oh, the horror that is feeling like your make up is melting, melting!
ReplyDeleteI will admit to being worried about moving north to midwestern summer. Which sounds nuts, since I am in the south, but I have AC here, and I will not in the new digs.
It makes sense - everything down south is air conditioned. Up here, not so much. Get yourself a window a/c or two. That's what I have, and they make a huge difference the few weeks out of the year we need them!
ReplyDeleteBaby powder in the sheets? Interesting. But I don't think I would ever miss humidity if I moved away from it!
ReplyDeleteWell, even if the humidity got you, you're looking fabulous and polished in this picture. I dig the rosettes on this dress!
ReplyDeleteI'm melting today too - sooo humid! My dogs are lying over the a/c vents, refusing to move. But I'm with you, it beats the cold! You look great in this chambray number.
ReplyDeleteThat dress is lovely! And I know what you mean about the heat +humidity. 10 minutes out of the house and I feel like I should take another shower. Plus, there seems to be a wall of stuffy air stopping me from walking at a bearable pace.
ReplyDeletebetween the rain and the heat, I was all wet and melty by the time I even got to the car this morning. Love that chambray dress with the flower details...perfect for the scorcher we are having. I can feel my hair curl with the humidity as I walk out of the house...ha!
ReplyDeleteThe dress is gorgeous, and very suitable for a hot day. I know what you mean about 100% humidity - it is so freakin' muggy today here in upstate NY! Taking a shower helps for about 3 minutes. But yes, I, too, take this over cold and snow any day.
ReplyDeleteThat dress looks great on you. We're having the same hot, humid weather, but I am trying not to complain because it was so cold for so long here.
ReplyDeleteMy hair does that too! I don't even bother to flat iron it in this weather (I usually curl it under a little) because it'll flip right out the minute I get outside. And don't even get me started on the rain today... I wasn't soaked from it, but I did have to spend an hour on a stopped Metra because of it. Ugh!
ReplyDeleteAw, the dogs on the vents! Jude just sits right in front of the fan in this weather, and I can't blame him.
ReplyDeleteI don't think even an ice bath would help on days like today. Though I'd consider one anyway.
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean - I feel bad complaining about the heat, but really, I'll only be happy if it's 70 degrees and sunny every day.
ReplyDeleteHa! I hit that wall this morning too, and I was really annoyed by all the people who walked right past me. Like, are they not feeling this?
ReplyDeleteTrust me, I don't look fab or polished so much anymore :)
ReplyDeleteThe chambray dress with nothing under it: brilliant! I am totally copying this idea.
ReplyDeleteThis humidity is brutal. Stay cool.
I can't imagine layering under anything in this weather! But this dress did keep me super cool yesterday!
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous dress! How do you deal with the sweat in this light colour?
ReplyDeleteI don't sweat, I glow. And Fella made fun of my glow stains when I got home from work that day, so I guess I don't quite know how to deal with it.
