Leftovers

04/04/11

Happy Monday, Stylenation!  How was your weekend?  Mine was super busy, but definitely a lot more fun than last weekend.  I'm working from home today because I've been sick for the past few days, so this outfit is a leftover that was just hanging out on my computer.  I do a lot more outfit photos than I do posts, which is handy for days like today, where I'm not planning to wear anything more fancy than my pajamas.

Top and new trouser jeans: Gap
Scarf: Old Navy (also seen in Kristen's scarf collection)
Shoes: Puma
Earrings: New York & Company (remixed a LOT)
Fella's gym shoes: New Balance (he's training for the upcoming Shamrock Shuffle 8k, so our apartment is full of running gear)

Basketweave Scarf

But wait, there's more!  I started a beginning knitting class a few weeks ago, and yesterday was my final class.  I'm bummed that I won't have that to look forward to every Sunday morning, but I can always hang around the knitting shop anyway.  Or find a local Stitch 'n Bitch group.  In any event, I finished my very first project!  I wish the scarf were a bit longer, but I think I can work with it come next winter.

The last cool thing that happened this weekend - Rad visited!  She was in town for a conference, and was able to fit some hanging out into her schedule.  We ate a lot of really good food, our friend C. and I took Rad to a Zumba class on Saturday morning, we went out for German food and polka, Rad went running with Fella and Jude, and yesterday Rad and I baked up these yummy whoopie pies.  We'd normally spend our time together shopping, but since we're both trying to cut back, we decided to bake instead.  A nice, delicious alternative.

How was your weekend?

  1. First I wanted to comment on how much I love your earrings and navy scarf. Then I saw the scarf YOU made and was all, "Ooh! I want to learn to knit! I'm gonna comment on this TOO!" And then I saw the whoopie pies and my brain short-circuited from all the coolness in this post. Mmmm...

  2. Yeay, this weekend was so much fun! I am still in pain from the Zumba class. I used muscles that miles of running do not use. Now I must attend a class in Brooklyn as well. Cute navy accessories on a simple jeans and t-shirt combo. Also, I miss the whoopie pies.
And finally, let's continue to do things together other than shop. I had an awesome weekend with y'all!

  3. Your red scarf looks great! I had a good weekend, but now I'm tired and wish I could be working from home too!

  4. Wow that is a stellar red scarf, and I like your leftover outfit. Simple and classic! Those whoopie pies look delish... nom nom nom!

  5. Mostly I wanted to type what Chalkdust and Boots typed, pretty much word for word. So I gave her a thumbs-up below.

Also, TWO visits with Rad this year?! D-Med, E-Jo, and I need to learn from your excellent examples!

  6. Rad visits so much, she can probably vote in our elections. Actually, we're not too picky on that here, so that doesn't mean much. But we're expecting her at least one more time this year for friend C's wedding this summer.

When you say you IPF ladies need to learn from our examples, you mean that you need to all plan a visit to Chicago sometime too, right?

  8. Knitting isn't too tricky once you get the hang of it (though I have no idea how to do advanced things like sweaters just yet), so it's worth a shot. I'm excited to make loads of scarves and blankets.

  9. We had so much fun with you too! Not shopping was a good time :) Sorry I was sick and blah, but I'm glad we still got fun stuff in. It's too bad the whoopie pies couldn't have traveled home with you, I don't know how we'll eat them all.

  10. Would you believe this was actually the first time I've even had a whoopie pie? But I'm hooked!

  11. Man, I can't decide what I like best: the scarves or the whoopie pies. Who I am kidding? Whoopie pies for the win. Though, holy crap, that scarf you made is fantastic and it's taking me all my will power to not get in the car, go to Old Navy and find that scarf.

  12. I love the pin on the scarf idea!

  13. Oh that polka dot scarf is super sweet!

PS: The first time I went to a Zumba class I felt really sheepish. But then I got over it!

  14. Ha, my first thought when I saw that scarf was "hey, that's the same one I have!" So cute. I need to pull it out and just wear it.
Yum, whoopie pies! When are you inviting me over to eat them? ;-D

  15. Anytime! Fella can't possibly eat all of them. And they're way too sweet for me to have more than one or two.

  16. It's alway a tough call for me between accessories and baked goods. The ON scarf was relatively cheap, sp probably worth the trip. We don't have enough matching things :)

  17. I suppose I'd rather have fun and be tired than be well-rested and bored on the weekend.

  18. Htey are delish, and so rich they're practically begging to be dunked!

  19. It's perfect for those times when one accessory just isn't enough!

  20. I'm definitely over it too. It's so fun, I don't really care about how ridiculous I probably look :)

  21. Oh, I wish I could have one of these whoopie pies! I am very impressed with the scarf you made...makes me think I need to take a knitting class too. Also, like the clean lines of that white tee with the polka dot blouse. Hope you get to feeling better soon.

  22. That is so great you got to spend the weekend with Rad! (where has she been? a bit absent from the blog lately...) And your baking looks super yummy!!

  23. Hi! Just found your blog, via Already Pretty. Nice. See ya 'round!

  24. Rad's been taking a break from blogging to focus on work and other things (like trips to Chicago), but I'm hoping she'll be back sometime soon :)

  25. Thanks for stopping by, Sue!

  26. I'd definitely recommend a knitting class - I had a lot of fun in mine!

  27. I love how your scarf turned out...I am going to check out stich n bitch and see if there is a group in my area...that would be so fun!

  28. I know! I think I spend the first 15 minutes trying to stifle my nervous giggles. By the end of class I was shimmying with the best of them!

    ReplyDelete
  29. That scarf is gorgeous! And omg YUM I love whoopie pies (here they call them Gobs). You look crisp and cute in this ensemble!

    ReplyDelete
  30. Definitely try to find one! There's a few established groups in my neighborhood that I want to check out. Knitting and socializing seem to go so well together :)

  31. Hee, "shimmying." That reminds me of when we had to do aerobics in high school gym. I swear that's probably the last time I knowingly shimmied.
