This Post Needs a Title
Do you guys ever get something new and shiny and you just can't wait to wear it? Over and over again? That's how I feel about this necklace. While Rad was off at her conference this weekend, our friend C. and I did a little local shopping. We went to Hazel, a wonderful stationary and jewelry shop in the neighborhood, just so I could get a birthday card for a friend and a note card to send my pen pal Grandma. I ended up buying Fella a new watch to replace the one he lost last weekend, and decided I'd treat myself to this necklace too. I know, wasn't I just saying I'd cut down on the shopping? It only cost $17, and look, I've already worn it twice!
I wore this outfit last night on a date with Fella. Like good Chicagoans, we went out for some Italian beef and then saw The Mountain Goats and Megafaun in concert. Fella really loves the Moutain Goats, but a lot of people don't seem to have heard of them before. I told C's fiancée over the weekend that we were going to see them, and his response was "Is that a band?" It'd be cool if we were seeing actual mountain goats too, but a band is good. I really like them because their music is full of great piano, which was even more awesome live.
Cardigan: Loft
Tank & Jeans: Gap
Necklace: Hazel
Shoes: Puma
And here's what I wore to work today. Don't mind the odd, windy photo. I had to scurry out of the alley pretty quick, since some landscapers were coming through. Not embarrassing at all. Anyway, I ended up switching to my black heels because I felt like these shoes made my legs look stumpy. Or maybe I'm just not ready to see my legs just yet. Don't get me wrong, I'm wearing nylons to ease into bare legs, but it's weird seeing my legs in anything but dark tights. I'm sure I'll get used to it.
Cardigan: Ann Taylor
Dress: Target
Necklace: As above

Haha, I think I was just fondling that dress at Target the other day. It's cute. I was able to put down the credit card and step away though. Yet more evidence that we are twins separated at birth (and by a decade or so).
ReplyDeleteAwesome necklace! I can see why you couldn't wait to wear it again. And your legs look fantastic! That dress is stunning :)
ReplyDeleteSeriously Cynthia, we're totally on the same style wavelength sometimes. I wanted to walk away, but I just couldn't. A cute dress that is both dressy and casual and fits me is hard to find sometimes. But I should really avoid Target. I went in for toilet paper, and came out with 2 new dresses. And toilet paper.
ReplyDeleteAw, you're too sweet :) I think it's just the shock of actually seeing my legs again. Hopefully that'll wear off soon.
ReplyDeleteI agree that your legs look great. In the fact, the whole work outfit is a major win. And the necklace is way versatile. Sounds like you had fun at your concert.
ReplyDeleteThat is an awesome necklace. Totally worth the $17. That dress is awesome. Clearly it was made just for you. I'm off to check out The Mountain Goats. I love piano music!
ReplyDeleteThat necklace is really pretty. Right now we are supposed to have weather in the 70s on Sunday, so I may be able to go bare-legged.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely give them a listen! One thing about their music though - the lyrics can be a bit depressing, but they manage to make the songs super upbeat. I don't know how they do it, but I really like their sound.
ReplyDeleteMust be the elliptical/Zumba legs. Actually, it's probably all those squats on Saturday.
ReplyDeleteHere too! In fact, it could get up to 80 on Sunday here, which is a little crazy for April.
ReplyDeleteI love that necklace - if I were you I would wear it constantly. And it's clearly versatile - it looks great with both of these outfits.
ReplyDeleteGracey
Hadn't seen that dress at Target. Are you trying to ruin me? (I went to look for that scarf at Old Navy and they didn't have it. I did walk away with that yellow eyelet skirt. If I hadn't felt like hot garbage today, I would have totally worn it. Aiming for Friday now...)
ReplyDeleteThat necklace is gorgeous.
Shoot, I should've warned you about the scarf probably not being available anymore. Glad you finally got the yellow skirt though! I hope you feel better come Friday ;)
ReplyDeleteI always have a hard time with post titles too.
ReplyDeleteP.S. That dress looks awesome on you.
Clearly we exhaust our vast creativity on our outfits and the rest of the posts :)
ReplyDeleteI think the necklace was a good purchase. That polka dot dress is wonderful on you!
ReplyDeleteI love How to Embrace a Swamp Creature, This Year, and your dress :)
ReplyDeleteDress is bought. This makes two twin dresses from Target that I need to style and post. There's clearly some sort of Anne copycat post coming up...
ReplyDeleteI am taking the same approach to the pale leg problem. It's good that fella is willing to get out and about rather than having a delayed case of caution. Your title is so funny...and reminds me of the times I've forgotten to title a post.
ReplyDeleteReally? Man, I'm such a bad influence. I can't wait to see you rock the Target dresses!
ReplyDeleteNice! They played "This Year" for their second encore. My favorite of the night was by far "No Children." So dark lyrically, but I LOVE the piano.
ReplyDeleteHe's been out and about a little, but still being pretty cautious. We normally would've walked home from the show, but Fella insisted we take the train because it's too soon for him to be walking around at night so close to where it happened.
ReplyDeleteI love both these outfits, especially that dress! You look fantastic.
ReplyDeleteI'm truly conflicted right now. I want the weather to warm up and I'm looking forward to Spring, but at the same time I feel considerably self-conscious without my tights worn with basically everything! I think and have to wonder how I ever managed before.
$17 and that gorgeous green? No wonder you snatched it up!
ReplyDeletePS: For some reason the post titles seem to come easiest for me. It's usually the first thing that pops into my head. But then again, nobody is judging the titles on the quality...hmph.
Obvy, the necklace was a smart buy. Also, I love the effortlessly chic and casual feel of outfit #1. And outfit #2 is blowing my socks off - in a great way!
ReplyDeleteGreat necklace! I like both outfits SO much, especially the second one.
ReplyDeleteI too have qualms about bare legs the first few times out.
you rock stripes
ReplyDeleteYou are making me wish I bought that dress. I got the top instead. ;-D
ReplyDeleteI almost bought the top actually! And then I saw the dress, and I had to have it.
ReplyDeleteI think it's just like jumping into a cold pool or something - once you take the plunge, it's a lot easier. It was 85 yesterday, so I wore a skirt with bare legs without so much as a second thought.
