National Wear Red Day

02/04/11
Happy Friday!  In addition to wearing red today for Heart Disease Awareness, I'm wearing another closet orphan. I bought this top a few years ago and wore it all the time for a while before it disappeared to the back rod in my closet, only to be worn a couple times a year after that.  The neckline is pretty low, so if I don't wear a cami underneath, it's a bit scandalous.  I think that's a lot of the reason for not wearing it, because I really like it otherwise.  I have a limited amount of red clothing, so wearing red today helped me remember this neglected top.

  1. Cute! Does this mean that you're back in your house having survived the snowstorm?

It bugs me that so many manufacturers seem to want to make tops that are NSFW (or NSFL period) without another layer beneath. What kind of girls do they think we are?

  2. Cynthia: Yes! We came back late Wednesday night, though my neighbor (he lives in the coach house in our backyard) just texted me to tell me his power is out AGAIN so I'm really hoping ours stays on.

And what I wonder is who exactly can pull these necklines off anyway?

  3. I'm glad your power's back. The red top looks great on you.

  5. That top is great, and I'm with Cynthia: why even make the low-cut crisscross? And yet, it's everywhere.

In other news, I'm only just getting caught up after a week of spotty StyleNation attendance. Your power was out because of the storm? That's awful! I really hope it's back to stay, now.

  6. You look wonderful in that red top. And I'm so glad your power is back - and I hope you're staying nice and warm.

  7. Beautiful tank and necklace! Is the tank sheer? My bony, freckled chest is my least admirable feature...

  8. Excellent. I'll cross my fingers for your power, and I'll mail your dress exchange package tomorrow. I held off because I wasn't sure it could even be delivered.

  9. I love the zig zag pattern on the top, and I have a lot of orphaned empire waist tops like that... they had their heyday a few years ago, and have now dropped off the radar, so suddenly it seems difficult to wear what once was so simple.

    Chic on the Cheap
