Blizzard Day

Hello Stylenation!  Today's regularly scheduled Anne outfit post has been cancelled due to the weather. Chicago was hit with 20 inches of snow last night!  The storm included tons of thunder and lightning, which was one of the weirdest things I've ever experienced.  On top of that, our power has been out since 10:45 last night, and we have no idea how soon it'll be restored.  A transformer in our back alley broke last night, leaving about 8 houses/apartment buildings without power. Unfortunately the alley has drifts of snow that are about 3-4 feet high, so the repair trucks can't get in.  And they're working to help the other 30,000 people without power.  We could deal with lack of power, but our heat was out too.  Fella's brother and Dad came to pick us up this afternoon, and we're at Fella's parents' house now, enjoying plenty of heat and electricity until our power comes back on.  In lieu of an outfit photo, here's some pictures from the blizzard.  If you've been hit by this storm too, I hope you're staying safe and warm!

  2. Sorry that your power is out. I'm glad you're in a nice, warm place. It looks like Jude is enjoying the snow, at least!

  3. Right before I left IL for good, so winter of 1999 I guess, it snowed that much in Champaign-Urbana...and then was -20 for several days following.

It's pretty but I don't miss it that much.

  9. C&B: Wow, your first ever snowstorm? I'm so envious!

Rebecca: Thanks, I had a ton of fun in the snow too! This was my first blizzard, so unlike anything I've seen before.

Cynthia: Yeah, it's supposed to get down to -2 tonight I think, and be pretty cold for the rest of the week. I wouldn't miss it if I lived somewhere warmer either!

Julia: I hope your power stayed on for the rest of the day!

Allison: My dog and the 2 neighbor dogs had a blast playing in the snow today. He's currently passed out recovering from that.

Rad: I think the best part for Jude was being able to roam the streets off-leash since there weren't any cars going anywhere this morning.

Lyddie: Thanks! We got home about an hour ago and the power and heat are back.

Laura: The lightning and thunder were pretty crazy! Apparently it happens when snow falls really fast.
