I Couldn't Stay Away

At least the sun's out

And look, I've totally forgotten how to take a proper outfit photo after just a week off from style blogging! Just as I thought I had everything all figured out, I spotted this dress at Loft. It was half off, and with my $20 "rewards coupon" (which means I spend WAY too much of my money at Loft), it ended up being $20. Stylenation, you know I can't pass up a good deal.

Close-up

I love the cute lace yolk styling on the neckline and the elastic waist that was just begging to be belted.  And I thought that being 2 neutrals that are already pretty heavily represented in my wardrobe, it'd be easy to work into my rotation.  The problem is the high neckline.  I ended up pairing it with a black boyfriend cardigan that would accommodate the shape of the neckline.  But that's the best I could do.  And you know I need some more color than this.  How would you style this dress?

I think I'd style it with a red belt, lace tights and black blazer.

  2. That is a dress worth coming back for! :)
I like the red accessories idea! I would also try a mustard cardigan, or a rich purple.

  7. You do look great.  I have a hard time with necklines that high myself -- they are just not the right thing on my wide-shouldered top -- so I'm really not sure what to advise here, but I will be checking your other commenters' recommendations with interest.

  8. That's a great suggestion!  I especially like adding lace tights to highlight the lace in the neckline.  Now I just need to find some lace tights...

  9. You'll have to buy this dress and pair it with mustard, since you're the queen of wearing yellow (and I'm soooo not).  I agree though, it'd probably look good together!

  10. Yeah, I think once I reached the point that I felt pressured to get a post done, or like it wasn't coming easily and naturally, I needed to just slow down.

  11. I'm not any more wide on top than elsewhere (at least I don't think I am...), but I do feel like that type of neckline adds a bit of width.

  13. Payless actually has some for real cheap - like $3 on sale. I got a pair, I like 'em.

  14. Anne, I want that dress! The lace on the neckline is beautiful... and I love that you've worn it with black! I would also wear it with maybe a solid colored belt for a casual day, or a gold, loose chain belt for a glam event!

  16. wooHOO! So glad you couldn't stay away - but I'll definitely be checking your other blogs. As I noted on Rad's good-bye post, I continue to dream of get-togethers in the real world. It could happen!

In the mean time, feel free to pop back with style photos here any time. xo

  17. I think you styled the dress perfectly!
For a different look I would wear some colored tights or cardi.
