Actually cold
Woah, looks like its getting actually cold here for the next few days. OK, not like Minneosta cold, but below freezing, which it hasn't been very much this winter. I keep thinking how one doesn't even need a winter coat in this part of the country, because winters are mild, but maybe when it's a high of 17, I'll be glad I kept my wintry type coats (nothing serious, but mid-weight wool numbers to be worn with layers.) To kick off our temporary cold snap, I'm wearing wool tights, which are too warm for sitting around in the apartment. Blokey and I are going to do what all fun loving young couples in Brooklyn like to don on a Saturday afternoon- e-recycling! One would think that it would be relatively easy to safely recycle electronic goods in this fair city, but it's actually quite difficult. The Lower East Side Ecology Center has been hosting events all January, but dang, I wish public and more redaily available options were available. Perhaps electronics recycling is only an issue for households with a big open-source geek (not me-I'm just reaping the benefits). And then we're run some more errands.
I'm happy to report I slept about 13 hours on Thursday night. And took ALL of Friday off of thinky work (laundry and other tasks were done). I'm so relieved to be closer to finishing my goal. Thanks to Style Nation for your encouraging words!
(I don't know why I'm smirking here. Maybe that's just my crooked face).

You're sure getting a lot of mileage out of that belt! I like it in this outfit.
ReplyDeleteE-recycling could be easier here too. I know there's a company that does it (they rebuild electronics and donate them to schools and various charities when they're done), and our ward does a yearly pick-up, but they don't publicize any of it very well. Good for you guys for seeking it out though! And I'm glad you got some sleep :)
It's strange how your notions of cold change so quickly. Despite decades of Canadian winters, yesterday's high 30s seemed pretty cold here. Though, at least I didn't overreact as much as some of my students who had giant fur hats and parkas on.
ReplyDeleteAlso, what a chic outfit for e-recycling!
You are smirking because you got 13 hours of sleep! Well-played! Also very well-played placement of that blue belt.
ReplyDeleteI already was pretty anti-winter, but now I loathe it.
Hurray for a good night's sleep! Sounds like you needed it!
ReplyDeleteI like the color of your top - kind of neutral but kind of not. Makes your look even better!
I've totally lost my Wisconsin-born cold conditioning since I moved South. This morning, I ran out to my car for zumba and was astounded by the 30 degree COLD. But then of course, I've also lost my Wisconsin-born training in self-preparation, since I was wearing only a quilted cotton jacket and gloves, and my ankles were bare.
ReplyDeleteGlad you were able to get some sleep. My most recent entry contains a special message for you :)
13 hours of sleep sounds delightful!! I'm hoping for one of those nights tonight. I'm admiring your belt and boots, and bracing myself for a bitterly cold day tomorrow. Brrr.
ReplyDeleteRad--were you shopping for electronics or donating? BTW, I am willing to send you the vest I was wearing yesterday if you want it. It is a bit tight on me. Send me an e-mail if you are interested. Free-cycling. :)
ReplyDeleteIt's all in what you get used to, isn't it? When I lived in NYC--having moved there from Baton Rouge--I thought it was Very Cold. Now when I visit from the mountains of Pennsylvania, winter seems quite balmy.
ReplyDeleteGood for you on the sleep. Sometimes your body just demands it.
I love the bright blue belt with this outfit. And wool tights? Damn girl, that's serious stuff right there.
ReplyDeleteThat blue belt just adds so much, doesn't it?
ReplyDeleteMaybe it's because I've never lived anywhere colder - but 17° is too cold for me. The thought of having to leave the house after dark? Forget it. We went out to dinner tonight at 4:30 like old people :)
ReplyDeleteGlad you got caught up on your sleep and laundry, and hey, maybe you'll get another day off on wed. haha.
Chic on the Cheap
